Fonterra has been reducing the amount of whole milk powder it offers on the auction platform, with expectations for flat milk supply this season limiting its ability to increase production. Later this week, the big Co-op releases its annual results and will finalise last season’s milk price and update this season’s forecast. Its opening forecast for the 2021/22 season has a mid-point of $8 per kgMS and if it reaches that mid-point Fonterra would contribute more than $12 billion to the economy.
