Check the calendar… it is not April 1st but here’s one that qualifies. Toilet training cows is possible and could help reduce greenhouse gas pollution and water contamination. University of Auckland researchers Lindsay Matthews and Douglas Elliffe, alongside German colleagues, have proven cows can be trained to urinate in a “toilet” and have the urine flushed away before it pollutes the environment. Researcher Lindsay Matthews says Cow urine is a major water pollutant and emitter of nitrous oxide – the greenhouse gas that accounts for 12 per cent of New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions.
