The chance to add your thoughts on climate action to the Climate Change Commission has closed. Consultation opened on February 1, and closed on Sunday. One of the areas of discussion is the suggestion that more native trees have to be planted. Big corporates like Air New Zealand, Genesis Energy, Contact Energy and Z Energy have all signed up to the Dryland Carbon partnership whose aim is to plant mainly exotic trees like radiata pine to offset emissions. Dryland Director Ant Beverley says native forestry demands a greater risk.
