With the NZ Shearing community focused on the NZ Champs in TeKuiti… the Aussies are thinking they may get their sheep shorn after all. The isolation of NZ has meant our shearers have not gone to Australia this year and farmers there are faced with steep costs. Shearing Contractors Australia Secretary Jason Letchworth says sometimes they’re paying nearly double the price to get their flock clipped. As to our shearers who normally are in Australia at this time of year, NZ Shearing Contractors Mark Barrowcliffe says there are a few issues to consider before our guys will be heading west.
