Relief for fruit growers with RSE workers able to travel to New Zealand from Tonga, Samoa and Vanuatu without undergoing a two-week stay in managed isolation. The Government is keen to get the arrangement in place before September with the new travel corridor aimed at helping industries such as horticulture and wine to get Pacific workers in and create a path out of the pandemic. PM Jacinda Ardern says they are talking to these countries because the risk associated with quarantine-free travel is low and NZ Apples and Pears Chief Executive Allan Pollard says they’re hopeful to get worker numbers up to previous years.
