The ban on live animal exports from NZ will go ahead from next April. Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor says because the parliamentary select committee could not come up with a definitive agreement on whether or not the exports should continue then the ban will come into force in April 30 2023. Damien O’Connor says there were 600 submissions and exporters desires to reach a gold standard for animal welfare have come too late.
