The year is underway with calls from the East Coast for an inquiry into the state of the region’s roads and the effects of forestry slash. Federated Farmers Gisborne-Wairoa President Toby Williams says residual material and slash from forestry harvesting has significantly contributed to damage to farmland and with every rain event more slash is washing down.
