There’s to be a review of the forestry slash following a meeting at Gisborne District Council with forestry minister Stuart Nash, agriculture minister Damien O’Connor, justice minister Kiritapu Allan, local MP Meka Whaitiri, plus Gisborne District Council’s mayor Rehette Stolz and key stakeholders including Iwi forestry and farming representatives – meeting this week to discuss a way forward for the region following widespread devastation from recent weather events. The high powered meeting resulted in a collective agreement for an independent review and according to Federated Farmers Gisborne Wairoa President Toby Williams … the fact it is to be a review rather than an inquiry has to be good.
