The government-owned research company Scion has come up with a possible solution to the forestry slash issue. Setting up mini processing plants on site to chip the branches and waste from logging. Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for forestry, wood and other biomaterial sectors. Dr Elder says to date chipping has not been regarded as financially viable but with the destruction it causes it is now vital that something is done.
