An Army Of Fencing Volunteers Has Been Assembled By The Fencing Contractors Association To Start Re-Fencing Cyclone-Damaged Parts Of The Hawke’s Bay

An army of fencing volunteers has been assembled by the Fencing Contractors Association to start re-fencing cyclone-damaged parts of the Hawke’s Bay…. It is all part of the ‘Help a mate, buy a gate’ campaign and FCANZ president Phil Cornelius says the awful images during the floods and in the immediate aftermath were overwhelming for many people, and now, three months on, those in cyclone-hit areas are living with the everyday reality of the sheer scale of damage. He says the volunteer fencers aim to deliver as much high-quality rural fencing as possible in two days and take some of the load off for local landowners and fencing contractors alike. Three Primary Industry Academy students from Geraldine High School, have already completed a week in the area during the school holidays helping out. He says reinstating permanent fencing in the region can’t start until the silt and debris have been cleared. He says this is just the start – we will be back.
