Kiwi Dr John Barker, has been elected Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine in Spain. It is the first time a New Zealander or someone from the Southern Hemisphere – has held this position. The OIV is an inter-governmental organisation which recommends viticulture and winemaking practices. Based in Dijon, France, it has 49 Member States and helps facilitate trade through establishing relevant technical standards for wine and wine products.
