Waikato Bay Of Plenty Young Farmer Emma Poole Is The First Woman To Win The FMG Young Farmer Contest

Waikato Bay of Plenty Young Farmer Emma Poole is the first woman to win the FMG Young Farmer Contest. She’s a Mum, a vet and with husband Chris has a dairy farm in Pirongia and she has won the most prestigious Young Farmer of the Year title. She described herself as “absolutely buzzing” after being named the 55th FMG Young Farmer of the Year and making history as the Contest’s first-ever female champion. Emma secured the win following three days of grueling challenges against six other Grand Finalists including Lisa Kendall from the Northern region and the O’Connor brothers … nephews of Agriculture Minister Damien. In fact 25 year old Peter O’Connor was runner up just two points behind Emma Poole. Otago Southland Young Farmer Hugh Jackson was third. Emma’s brother Tim Dangen was the champion and Emma says it was a bonus to get the trophy from her brother.
