Changing times and spending patterns of Chinese consumers are proving challenging for NZ exporters. Westpac agri economist Nathan Penny says China is the one place in the world where milk production is firm whereas it is subdued in NZ the US and Europe. He says with less milk product being sold, China’s expanding milk industry is directing its milk more into whole milk powder which means it is now competing against the likes of Fonterra the worlds leading whole milk powder exporter
