The egg laying population is now back at pre covid levels currently sitting at 3.8 million birds after being as low as 3.4 million in February. This created a shortage of eggs through the year but Egg Producers’ Federation Executive Officer Michael Brooks says there should be enough to go round from this point … but he says it has been a very tough time for the industry. Michael Brooks says it has been hugely expensive for farmers to adapt to new rules and some businesses simply haven’t survived.
