Time is running out for farmers to have their say as the Mycoplasma bovis partners propose to move the disease eradication programme from the Ministry for Primary Industries. The MPI, DairyNZ and Beef + Lamb New Zealand are seeking farmers’ views on the proposed National Pest Management Plan as the eradication effort moves to a new phase. OSPRI is the favoured management agency in the NPMP proposal and is expected to create savings and efficiencies for farmers. It can run the M bovis programme alongside NAIT and the TBFree Programme, which could save up to $15 million across the three programmes. The National Pest Management Plan consultation closes on October 23. You can find out more at mpi.govt.nz.
