The proposal from National to stop emissions pricings for farmers for at least another five years suggesting instead an on-farm pricing plan for farmers by twenty-thirty. The plan has won plaudits from Federated Farmers, but scorn from the government, which accuses National of treating the climate with “contempt”. National’s agriculture spokesperson, Todd McClay agrees pricing has a role to play but farmers are on track to meeting their 2030 targets and de-stocking is not the answer
